A LITTLE NIGHT MUSICauditions

Act 3 Galveston is pleased to announce auditions for our upcoming concert for the classic musical, A Little Night Music (synopsis). Stephen Sondheim creates a stunning tour de force when he takes Ingmar Bergman's comedy of manners, Smiles of a Summer Night, and turns it into a musical of masterful execution and elegance. Winner of four Tony Awards, this is a musical work that has forever entranced the world of theatre.
A Little Night Music is full of hilariously witty and heartbreakingly moving moments of adoration, regret and desire. This dramatic musical celebration contains Sondheim's popular song, the haunting "Send in the Clowns."
This will be a concert presentation (i.e., at music stands with minimal staging). There is no memorization required, however, there will be nine (9) unmissable rehearsals. The performer must commit fully to the rehearsals and the two presentations. There is a small stipend upon completion of the concerts.
The performance dates are Sat Sep 27 @ 8PM and Sun Sep 28 @ 2PM, in the auditorium of Ball High School.
Rehearsal schedule and cast breakdown is attached below.
The performance on the Sat Sep 27 will have a 6:00 call with a 7-7:30 meet-and-greet (to break the veil between performers and audience) and an 7:30PM downbeat. The Sun Sep 28th performance will have a 12:15PM call with house opening at 1:00PM. Immediately following the performance will be a 15-20 minute talk back with the audience.
Auditions will be by appointment. Songs from the show are acceptable, as are songs from traditional musical theater; this score calls for more legit vocal sound, not pop or rock. If you have a monologue, bring it. Also, please bring a hard copy of photo/résumé.
